How far ahead should I book?

Well-known bridal artists in Lahore fill their peak-season weekends early, and a Baraat day is a long booking, so each artist can only take a few brides that day. Once the event dates are fixed, start shortlisting. For a Saturday in the busiest months, a few months' notice is sensible. Weekday functions and quieter months usually allow less notice.

Browse bridal makeup artists on Bandobast and look at their recent work, not only their best photos. You want to see brides with your skin tone and in lighting similar to your venue.

What should a makeup trial include?

A trial is your chance to agree the look before the day, not a quick test. A good one covers:

  • A full face in the style you want, with the base, eyes and lips.
  • Your hairstyle, or at least the parts that affect the look, such as a front puff or a centre parting.
  • How the dupatta will be set, and where jewellery like the matha patti and jhoomar will sit.
  • Photos in daylight and indoor light, so you can see how it reads on camera.

Bring photos of your outfit, your jewellery and two or three looks you like. Wear a top in a colour close to your outfit. Ask whether the trial is charged separately and whether that charge comes off the final booking.

When should the trial be?

Four to six weeks before the wedding works well for most brides. That is close enough that your skin and hair will be similar on the day, and far enough away to book a second trial or switch artists if it does not go well. If you are starting a skincare routine or facials, tell the artist and avoid trying anything new in the last two weeks.

What if I do not like the trial?

Say so during the trial, not after. A good artist expects feedback and will adjust the base, soften the eyes or change the lip colour while you are still in the chair. Be specific: "the base looks grey in daylight" helps more than "it does not feel like me".

Take photos at the end, then look at them again the next day in normal light. If the look still feels wrong after changes, it is better to book a trial with another artist than to hope it will be different on the day. This is why booking the trial four to six weeks out matters: it leaves room to change course.

If you have sensitive skin or known allergies, mention it when you book, and ask which products the artist uses. A patch test at the trial is a sensible precaution.

Do I need different artists for each function?

Not necessarily. Many brides use one artist for the Baraat and Walima and a different, simpler option for the Mehndi, where the look is softer and the budget can be lower. If you want one artist for all three, ask for a package and confirm they are free on every date. Plan the looks as a set: a fresh, colourful Mehndi, a traditional Baraat and a lighter or more modern Walima is a common approach.

Questions to ask about timing and travel

  • What time should I arrive, and how long will makeup and hair take?
  • Will the senior artist do my makeup, or a team member?
  • Is there a touch-up kit or a person who stays for photos?
  • Do you come to the house or venue, and what is the travel charge?
  • How many family members can be done alongside me, and at what cost?
  • What is the advance, and what happens if I cancel?

Leave buffer time. Lahore traffic on a wedding evening is unpredictable, and the photographer will want time for portraits before you enter. Share your Walima or Baraat run sheet with the artist so they know when you must be ready.

Common questions

How early should I book bridal makeup in Lahore?

As soon as your dates are fixed. For peak-season weekends, a few months ahead is sensible, because popular artists can only take a few brides a day.

When should I do my makeup trial?

Four to six weeks before the wedding, which leaves time for a second trial or a different artist if needed.

Is the makeup trial free?

Usually not. Many artists charge for a trial, and some deduct it from the final booking. Ask before you book it.

What should I bring to a makeup trial?

Photos of your outfit and jewellery, reference looks you like, and a top close to your outfit colour.

How long does bridal makeup take on the day?

It depends on the artist and the look, so ask them directly and leave extra time for traffic and photos.
