Why this season feels shorter

Lahore's wedding calendar follows the weather and the Islamic calendar. The cool months from November to February are when most families hold their functions, and most avoid holding a shaadi during Ramadan. With Ramadan 2027 expected to begin around the second week of February (the exact date depends on the moon), the usable season this year runs from early November to the first week of February.

That squeezes demand into fewer weekends. The Saturdays and Sundays of December and January are the first to go for popular banquet halls, marquees in DHA, Gulberg and Bahria Town, and well-known caterers and photographers. If your dates fall there, the order of booking matters: venue first, then catering, then photography and makeup.

Weekday functions are quietly getting more common, especially for Mehndi and Dholki. Halls and vendors are often more flexible on price for a Tuesday or Wednesday, and guests in Lahore are used to weekday evening events in season.

How early to book in Lahore this season

A rough guide for December and January dates:

  • Banquet hall or marquee: three to six months ahead for a Saturday, six to eight weeks for a weekday.
  • Caterer: two to three months ahead, with a food tasting before you confirm the menu.
  • Photographer and videographer: two to three months ahead; the best teams take two or three events on the busiest nights, so ask who will actually shoot yours.
  • Bridal makeup: two to three months ahead, with a trial four to six weeks before the day.
  • Decor: six to eight weeks ahead, once the venue is fixed.

If you are planning late, name your price on a Bandobast request for each service: vendors with a free date reply within 24 hours, which is faster than calling round. You can plan every function in one place and get one caterer to quote for Baraat and Walima together.

Food: live counters and simpler menus

Live stations are still the thing families ask caterers about most: a chai and kahwa counter, jalebi or gulab jamun fried in front of guests, a live BBQ or tikka grill, and kulfi or ice cream carts. They cost more in staff than in food, so ask caterers to price each counter separately.

At the same time, main menus are getting simpler. Many families pick one strong rice dish, one or two curries and one dessert, and spend the difference on quality and service. Punjab's marriage functions rules have long limited menus and how late halls can run; enforcement varies, so ask your venue what applies on your date before you finalise timings.

For Walima especially, ask for the exact meat cut and weight per guest in writing. Our list of questions for caterers covers the details that change the final bill.

Decor: fresh flowers, softer colours, real lighting

Mehndi decor stays bright, with marigold, yellow and green, swings and floor seating. For Baraat, deep reds and gold are still the most requested. Walima stages have moved firmly towards ivory, blush and pastel tones with fresh flowers and warm lighting. Fresh flowers photograph better but cost more in December, when every stage in the city wants them.

Ask decorators what is fresh and what is artificial, and how much of the quoted stage is on the day versus in the photos they show. For ideas and what each set-up involves, see Mehndi decor ideas.

Plan for smog

From late October into December, Lahore's air quality can drop sharply, and in past years the Punjab government has ordered restrictions during the worst weeks. Evenings in open lawns and marquees are the most affected.

  • Ask your venue about an indoor or covered fallback, and what happens to your booking if restrictions are announced.
  • Put a sensible cancellation or date-change clause in writing with every vendor.
  • Plan outdoor photos for midday, when visibility is usually better.
  • Keep masks at the entrance for elderly guests.

On Bandobast, every booking shows the vendor's cancellation policy before you pay, and your payment is released to the vendor in stages, with the last part held until two days after the event, so a disrupted day can be sorted out fairly.

Photos and video: shorter, faster, vertical

Families now expect a short highlight film within days and vertical clips for sharing on phones, alongside the full album. Many teams offer a same-night teaser. Ask what is included in the price, how many photographers and videographers will come, and when you will get the full edit.

Drone shots are popular for outdoor marquees, but check that your venue allows them and that the team handles any permission needed.

Budgets this season

Prices rise with demand, so a December Saturday costs more than a weekday in November. The live table at the end of this post shows what families on Bandobast are paying and being quoted right now, and What Lahore pays breaks it down by service and guest count.

If you are building a budget from scratch, start from how to split a shaadi budget, then name your own price for each service and let vendors respond.

Common questions

When is wedding season in Lahore?

The main season runs from November to February, when the weather is cool. Most families avoid holding weddings during Ramadan, so when Ramadan falls in February or March the season effectively ends a little earlier. A smaller season picks up again after Eid.

How far ahead should I book a marquee for December?

For a Saturday in December or January, three to six months ahead. Weekdays are easier: six to eight weeks is often enough, and prices are usually lower.

Do Lahore wedding halls have a closing time?

Punjab's marriage functions rules have limited how late halls can run, and many venues still end functions around 10 pm. Enforcement changes, so confirm the exact closing time with your venue for your date.

What happens if smog restrictions are announced on my date?

It depends on the restriction and your agreements. Ask your venue and vendors in advance what they do if functions are restricted, get a date-change clause in writing, and keep an indoor fallback in mind. On Bandobast, money for a booking is held and released in stages, so it can be returned or moved if the event can't go ahead.

Where do the numbers in this post come from?

From requests, offers and bookings made on Bandobast, with sample and test data left out. Where there isn't enough yet, we show vendors' listed starting prices and say so. The figures update daily.
